The End of an Era

May 18, 2008 / by lunarhunk

I think that I am finally going to make the leap. For the past couple of months, I have been creating mirror blogs here and on Greasy.com. A lot of it is because I was so happy with the Blogster community. I came to feel that I belonged here for so long, and I loved so many of the wonderful friends that I made here. I also have trouble with leaving things broken up, and moving someplace else would mean breaking up my blog so the old entries that I spent so much time working on would be gone and separate as my blog continued in its new home.

Well, I have decided that it is just too much work to have the mirroring blogs at this point. Granted, it is just a few more seconds to copy and paste the stuff over, but I just don't have the time to do it.

That meant i had to decide on what to do. Where would my bloggin homestead lay? Well, part of the decision was based on the fact that almost all of my friends have departed from our beloved Blogsterville. They left for various reasons: not feeling welcomed by the civil war that took place here, not being able to put up with the long-running problems with the upgrades that come about with the new owners, etc.

The other reason I made the choice I made was that it is a great way to challenge my OCD. I mentioned that part of my need to stay here was to keep my blog whole and together. It has to be properly organized. Well, not being able to actually search my blog in any form any more makes accessing it a major issue. The new search feature is useless. I will just have to live with it not being perfect. Take that, you nasty OCD! I will just provide a link here from the Greasy.com side and call it my archives. It is just time to look forward.

For those of you who want to keep following the life and times of a whacked out librarian, the saga will continue at http://greasy.com/lunarhunk/. See you on the other side!

As for those of you who are here, do not worry. I will be maintaining all my subscriptions so I will still get notifications of your posts, and I will pop in regularly to keep up with you. I would miss you all too much to not do it.

Good--that means less e-mail in my box and less deleting!!!

You always could have unsubscribed.  I think I duplicated entries on the two blogs.  But it will mean things will be easier for both of us!

I understand--I do the same thing--as there are very few comments here I might stop posting the duplicates also--too bad it went downhill so fast over here!

It is sad.  From what I can see, Greasy has a lot of the good things that I liked here.

I will have no problem keeping up with you and seeing your posts at greasy because I am there on a regular basis now, too, because I go there to read my friends' blogs and comment on them.  I'm glad you are not giving up your subscription here, though, because I wouldn't want you to miss any of my posts.  Yeah, I do copy a post over to greasy every once in awhile, but all my posting is done here in Blogster and most are not duplicated.

I know you will enjoy being at greasy because of all the friends that have migrated over there and because it is a heck of a lot easier to manage one site than it is to have to continuously go back and forth, but I have posting problems at greasy (it has something to do with my computer) and I have a number of friends here, too, who are not at greasy, and I do not want to leave them.  Because I have not been overly-plagued by any of the problems so many have encountered here, I really have never been "driven" to seek a better place, and I certainly like the way I can make a blog look here more than the way a blog looks there.

I do hate to see you go because I do still spend more time here (because of the writing), but I know it doesn't mean we won't be keeping up with each other's posts.  (And, hey, I'm getting another computer in August, so maybe my greasy problems will come to an end and I will be able to post more over at greasy, too.)

Having so many great friends here is one of the reasons why I am not giving up my subscription here.  I would miss everyone too much!  I was kind of torn about whether or not to do it.

I tried to go to greasy  but I just can't figure it out- I was also double posting! not fun for me or easy! I just can't figure out what articles have comments on them! There is no way for me to see my comments without going over every post I write! And I have asked for help and no one has HELPED ME! Have fun - I hope you have better luck than me!

It definitely is quirky.  It is actually run by one of the former owners of Blogster.  I am surprised he didn't reply.  I got a response in a couple of hours when I was having trouble.
